Viva Catrina – Build the Most Beautiful Village for the Día de los Muertos

Under strings of garlands and colorful lanterns, your village comes alive for the Día de los Muertos. The streets fill with butterflies and music, while the altars glow in tribute to the ancestors. In Viva Catrina, it’s up to you to create the most dazzling Village by attracting visitors, collecting chimeras, and releasing balloons into the sky to honor the mysterious Catrina. Each tile you place expands your Village and shapes the most vibrant celebration in Mexico.

How to Play Viva Catrina

Each game unfolds over several rounds in which you choose and place tiles to develop your Village.

• Tile Selection Phase: Choose one of the tiles located at the end of a line in the central display. As the round progresses, the available choices diminish, adding a layer of tactical tension.
• Tile Placement Phase: Add the chosen tile to your Village, adjacent to an existing one, and rotate it as you wish. To be counted at the end of the game, an element must be connected to your Starting Tile via a paved Path or a flowered Trail. Balloons, chimeras, stalls, butterflies, visitors, and altars all earn points based on their placement or quantity. Build coherent networks to maximize your score, but beware — a misplaced tile can cut off your paths or make objectives unreachable.

When the last tile of the final round is placed, total your points to determine who organized the most spectacular celebration.
