In Codenames Duo, you and your partner play as secret agents trying to identify your informants hidden behind code names. But be careful — one wrong word and the assassin appears, ending your operation instantly! A clever cooperative game of word association and deduction that turns every round into a tense exercise in teamwork and intuition.

How to play Codenames Duo?

In Codenames Duo, both players share the same mission: to find all the allied contacts on the grid of words in the center of the table. You have 9 turns to identify all 15 correct contacts together. The twist? Each player has information the other does not! On your turn, you give a single clue word followed by a number to guide your partner toward several related words. For example, “Bottle 2” might suggest words like “Water” and “Oxygen.” Your partner must then guess carefully, avoiding the assassin, which ends the game immediately if revealed.
A double-sided key card shows which words you must find — with some overlap between players — and three assassins to avoid.

To keep things fresh, Mission cards introduce time limits and error constraints depending on the city where your operation takes place. It’s a true test of teamwork, precision, and shared intuition.
