Tea & Rum: For the Crown or for the People?

Sometime between the 17th and 18th centuries, you land on an island where everything remains to be built. Will you pledge allegiance to the Crown, or will you join the pirate rebellion brewing in the shadows?

In Tea & Rum, you’ll try to take control of the island to become one of two victors: the Governor or the Pirate King… or even both! This worker-placement game challenges your usual strategies with a placement-and-removal mechanic that reshapes your plans every round. But be careful: at the end of the game, there are as many losers as there are winners.

How do you play Tea & Rum?

The game consists of five rounds. Depending on the round, you place or retrieve your workers on four Action boards. Build structures, hire captains, fulfill contracts, and trade resources to develop your strategy. Each action earns you blue Victory Points, for the Crown’s prestige, or red Victory Points, for the People’s support. Keep your intentions secret: angering the Crown or the People jeopardizes your chances. At the end of the five rounds, two winners share the glory, while the others are left empty-handed!
