First played in Naples in the 17th century, Scopa has become Italy’s national game. Scopa boasts a rich history that spans the centuries. It has long been rooted in Mediterranean culture, so much so that the “sette bello” (the 7 of coins)—the trump card in all variations of the game—has become a symbol of luck and success in Italy.

This edition of La Scopa, illustrated by Anna Formilan, was produced in collaboration with the Playing Card Museum.
