Gygès: an abstract duel of pure strategy

Gygès is an abstract and strategic game for two players. Inspired by the legend of King Gyges and his ring of invisibility, the game invites you to become the one no one sees coming. Your goal: reach your opponent’s throne by orchestrating a series of subtle and unpredictable moves. Its refined mechanics are enhanced by a wooden board and metal rings of exceptional quality.

How to play Gygès

On your turn, choose a ring from the row closest to you. Depending on its size, it moves 1, 2, or 3 spaces. If your ring lands on another piece, it bounces: you can then move again the number of spaces corresponding to that piece’s size. This can repeat, creating a true chain of strategic movements. You may also move the piece you landed on to alter the board’s configuration. No piece belongs to any player — you can only move those in your first row, which are also the farthest from the opponent’s throne you need to reach to win!
