Cockroach Salad: Truth or Lie?

Cockroach Salad is a fast-paced card game where players race to get rid of all their cards first. Between truth and lies, you’ll need to build a delicious salad while avoiding forbidden ingredients. Each game lasts about 20 minutes, for 2 to 6 players aged 6 and up.

Each player has a personal deck of face-down cards. Everyone contributes to creating a colorful salad made of four different vegetables: peppers, tomatoes, cauliflowers, and lettuces. On your turn, you must quickly flip the top card of your deck and announce what vegetable it is—without hesitation—while following these rules:

If it’s a vegetable card, you must name it correctly. You always have to tell the truth, except if the previous card was the same vegetable, or if the previous announcement was that vegetable. In either of those cases, you must lie.
If it’s a Taboo card, you must shout “Cockroach!” From that moment on, you’re forbidden to name the vegetable shown on that card until a new Taboo card appears. Sometimes, that means you’ll have to lie!

If you’re too slow or make a mistake, you take all the cards in play. The first player to run out of cards wins the game—having skillfully juggled between truth and forced lies!
