At the head of your Nation, you will have to make crucial political decisions while coping with global upheavals. Ecological crises, military tensions, radical economic choices, or fragile alliances will all test your ability to maintain balance within your society. In Limit, it is not enough to simply grow: you must limit, anticipate, and negotiate to survive in a world of finite resources.
A game of Limit unfolds over 7 generations (or until 4 global crises are triggered). Each generation is divided into three phases. During the Political Phase, you draw and play cards to determine the direction of your Nation: industrialization, social reforms, military aggression, or environmental policies. Next comes the Social Phase, where your population consumes resources, pays taxes, produces goods, and reacts to your previous decisions. Finally, the International Phase introduces negotiations and crises—ecological, financial, or military—that reshape the balance of power. The game ends with a scoring phase that reflects living standards, military and financial power, but also penalties such as pollution or instability.
