Catan: Pirates & Explorers

Pirates & Explorers is a major expansion for Catan, following Seafarers, Cities & Knights, and Traders & Barbarians. It includes five scenarios and three missions.

This expansion differs from the base game in several ways:

• Instead of playing on a single large island, you play on a set of three islands, with only one known at the start of the game. By using ships, you can explore the game board and reveal the contents of hidden hexes. Each discovered tile grants you a bonus resource.
• Instead of building cities, you can construct harbor settlements.
• If a player does not receive any resources during the production roll, they receive one gold as compensation. Two gold coins can be exchanged at the bank for a resource of your choice. Gold can also be used to evade pirates.
