Barbarian hordes sweep across Catan as players fiercely compete to expand their settlements and establish their first metropolis.

With this thematic expansion, Catan reaches a new strategic level. The race for the metropolis, combined with Viking attacks, is just a glimpse of what awaits you. It introduces new elements and changes several important aspects of the game: new resources, new development cards, and above all, the arrival of the barbarians who threaten to invade your settlements and must be fought off by raising knights! War is at the gates of your city!

Among the new features, you will discover:

• 3 exclusive commodities: paper, cloth, and coins. These allow you to build city improvements that grant points or special advantages.
• The development card deck is replaced by three separate decks, each corresponding to one commodity. They offer a wider variety of effects than the base game cards.
• You can now build knights who will claim intersections or defend you from barbarian attacks.
